Examining Top 5 players with a hefty price tag you can find today in Kazakhstan football.

Kazakhstan transfer window shuts on April 3, and that gives clubs a good chunk of time to make reinforcements and improvements to their current squad lists.

As it's early days yet to discuss significant ins and outs in Kazakhstan Premier League, we'd like to take a look at the competition’s players with biggest market values (h/t Transfermarkt.de).

All of them plied their trade in Kazakhstan in 2015, though some valuable footballers – the likes of Foxi Kéthévoama, Michael Odibe and Marcos Pizzelli – left Kazakhstan recently and did not enter the list.

Nemanja Maksimović

Age: 21
Club: FC Astana
Country: Serbia
Position: defensive midfielder
Market value: €2,00 million

After joining Kazakhstan champions FC Astana from Slovenian side NK Domžale in February of 2015, the promising Serbian proved his great potential in central midfield.

Maksimović scored several crucial goals for Astana, including his Champions League decider against APOEL which sealed Kazakhstan club’s progress into the group phase. And he did that not only for the club as Serbia lifted U-20 World Cup in New Zealand with Maksimović firing a last-gasp winner in the final game to add to his European U-19 Championship title he claimed in 2013.

It's no suprise that during the season, a young hopeful was linked with some big clubs such as Spartak Moskva before bagging another trophy in Kazakhstan league and receiving a nomination for the prestigious 2015 Golden Boy Award.

Gerard Gohou

Age: 27
Club: Kairat Almaty
Country: Ivory Coast
Position: center forward
Market value: €1,80 million

A tall and physically strong Ivorian attacker has been signed by Kairat Almaty in June of 2014 following his relatively successful spells with Turkish clubs Denizlispor and Kayseri Erciyesspor and not very positive experience in Russia at Kuban Krasnodar.

He rapidly became one of the biggest stars of Kazakhstan Premier League, showing an impressive form and having netted 42 goals for Kairat in all competitions. Gohou has won both Kazakhstan Cup editions he participated in, finished as the 2015 league top scorer and stunned European audience with his acrobatic strike in Kairat’s memorable away win over FK Crvena Zvezda.

After the 2015 season, he was celebrated as the Kazakhstan Player of the Year by the local media, the Goal Magazine and Sports.kz web portal.

Roger Cañas

Age: 25
Club: FC Astana
Country: Colombia
Position: central midfielder
Market value: €1,50 million

Since his Kazakhstan debut in 2012, the former Independiente Medellín player provided increasingly good performances at Shakhter Karagandy where he established himself as one of the key components to the Miners’ European success.

Later on, Cañas left Shakhter for FC Astana to evolve into midfield maestro with an exceptional conjunction of defensive and offensive abilities.

It is fair to say that without Cañas’ working rate, attacking prowess, grace and technical skills, Astana would have found it more difficult to see the achievements they managed to reach in their outstanding 2015 campaign.
