In the Week 7 postponed matchup, a tight Western Derby, FC Aktobe proved stronger than FC Atyrau 1-0 at home, ending the Oilers' unbeaten run.

The two sides initially had been set to meet on April 15 but PFLK has called off the fixture because of poor pitch conditions at both Aktobe's venues.

Now, the Red and Whites are allowed to use their main ground, Central Stadium, and the local crowd welcomed their first home win of the season on Wednesday evening.

In their third match under the stewardship of caretaker Igor Prokhnitsky, Aktobe sneaked past Atyrau who entered the clash undefeated in past six matches in all competitions.

With that, Aktobe avenged the recent loss against the same opposition in Kazakshtan Cup quarterfinal battle, raising their spirits following a miserable league streak.

The crucial moment of the tense and even encounter came in the 80th minute as Rafkat Aslan was fouled in the visiting box by Atyrau defender Jure Obšivač.

The referee whistled penalty and Yuri Mamute converted the spot-kick to win the game for Aktobe which marked Atyrau's first ever loss since Russian coach Sergey Pavlov arrived at the club.

The result left Aktobe bottom in the league standings though they cancelled the deficit on 11th-placed Shakhter Karagandy. Meanwhile, Pavlov's outfit remained ninth in the table.
